These Airbnb essentials are in every short term rental listing I have. They are well reviewed by all 400+ guests we’ve hosted throughout the years and I promise you will love them for your listings as well! Check everything out below.
1. Schlage Encode Lock
This lock fully integrates with the Airbnb app and the batteries last longer than any other bluetooth smart lock I’ve tried.
2. Wyze Doorbell Camera
Ring cameras or Wyze or any other brand will do the trick. I use Wyze at all my properties and have been happy with them. If you can hardwire them in, that’s the best way. Otherwise you’ll need to have a plan to recharge them regularly.
3. Nest Thermostat
Having a smart thermostat will save you when you have guests that leave the AC on or don’t know how to operate the thermostat.
4. Zinus 12″ Mattress
This mattress is unreal. I use it in my personal house as well! You could totally get away with the 10″ as well, it’s just a little softer and not as firm. Guests ask me all the time where they can purchase this mattress.
5. Waterproof Bedding Covers
These are hand down a must. I also get the pillow covers as well.
6. Comforters
My cleaners turned me onto doing comforters and quilts because they can easily be washed between turns. Check with your cleaning team on what they would advise since they will be doing the turns.
7. White Linens
Any other color just screams dirty! Even if they are clean. White towels and sheets are the best to use since stains are easy to see and throw out if you can’t get them out.
8. White Towels
Again, these are easy to see if they have stains.
9. Refillable Soap Dispensers
These will simplify inventory of soaps and shower gels.
10. Keurig Coffee Maker
This is the most sanitary way to provide coffee for your guests. The pods stay fresh for awhile and there is minimal cleaning of the machine between turns for the cleaning team.
11. Sponges
Individually wrapped sponges is a hack I learned from my cleaning team. It gives guests a sanitary sponge that is all theirs at the beginning of their stay.
12. Dish Drying Rack
Even if you have a dishwasher, provide a dish drying rack. Guests have asked us about this in the past when there wasn’t one and it’s now a staple item we stock at all our properties.
13. Knife Set
The ceramic knife sets last forever. I love that they come with covers to maximize guest safety. A lot of my listings cater to small families and this gives me peace of mind knowing the kids can’t just grab them out of the drawer.
14. Kitchen Utensils
I use this silicon utensil set in all my listings because it won’t scratch the cookware.
15. Mixing Bowl Set
I use this basic mixing bowl set. It has a rubber bottom which is helpful for spills.
16. Baking Set
I stock this basic baking set as well. I don’t know if guests actually use it but it’s there if needed!
17. Pots & Pans
We always do a quality set of pots and pans for our guests. I recommend these for starting out.

18. Makeup Washcloths
You have to stock these black makeup washcloths especially if you’re using white linens.
19. Pack n’ Play
We stock a pack n’ play at every listing. As a mom of 4, over the last 5 years, I’ve almost always had a baby that I needed to transport with me when my husband and I travel.
20. High Chair
Again, this Ikea high chair is so convenient for small families traveling with babies. It’s so easy to clean as well since it’s all plastic.
21. Firepit
This wood burning firepit is very affordable and I highly recommend it for an easy amenity.
