I have compiled a list of 21 Airbnb bedroom essentials that most hosts have never thought of but you need for your listing. This will for sure create a luxury, 5 star experience for your guests and a memorable stay.
The first half of my recommendations are Airbnb bedroom essentials I have in all my listings no matter the guest type I cater too. The other half are ones I’ve seen or have in higher end listing that attract a higher average daily rate.
This post is all about Airbnb bedroom essentials.
Best Airbnb Bedroom Essentials
1. White Bedding
White bedding is a must for all bedrooms in an Airbnb. It gives the guest a fresh and clean feel that colored bedding just doesn’t provide. It’s also easy for your cleaners to identify stains and any hairs when changing the bedding between turns.

2. Seating beyond the bed
This will largely depend on the space but adding a chair or couch to any bedroom that has space provides such a cozy touch. It allows the space to be use for lounging instead of just for sleeping. Below is how I incorporated a couch into one of my Airbnb properties.
3. Desk with a chair for WFH
With so many people having flexible work locations, I have hosted many guests that need a working space for their stay. Having a small desk with a comfortable chair in a bedroom can allow the bedroom to double as an office giving the guest more options for function during their stay.
4. Extra blankets
I love a basket full of blankets for a cute decor moment but providing extra blankets for your guests is a huge win. This is a great way to help your guests feel cozy in the space. Everyone feels comfortable at different temperatures so this will take your guest comfort to a new level.
5. 4 pillows per bed
Having 4 pillows per bed that sleeps 2 people is a small thing that will go along way for comfort for your guests. I aim to have 2 different types of pillows, soft and firm, to accommodate all comfort levels.
6. A dresser or clothing storage
An empty dresser, hangars in the closet or shelves in the closet for clothing storage is a great way for guests to feel at home in your listing. You always want to provide some area for guests to be able to unpack their belongings and have a clutter free space if they wanted too.
7. Dead space
When I travel, I always bring a lot of stuff with me so having space in a bedroom to put everything is so important to me in any Airbnb bedroom. Your guests will have bags, pac n plays for babies, toys for kids and extras that need a spot to live. So allow for space in your bedroom set up for guests to be able to put their belongings.
8. Somewhere for luggage storage
I am an unpacker when I go on vacation. I love to use the empty dresser to move my stuff in for the week and for my kids. But I do love a good storage closet for the luggage or space under the bed to store luggage.
9. Sound machine
A sound machine is my secret weapon as a host! They’re literally as cheap as $20 and I swear have saved me bookings. You can’t always control neighborhood noise as a host so putting a sound machine that is accessible and visible to guests will make them think to try turning that on first before calling and canceling the reservation. Plus anyone traveling with kids that forgot their own will thank you in your review for being so thoughtful. Do yourself a favor and stock one in your bedroom.
10. Black out curtains
I have blackout blinds in a number of my listings and guests so appreciate this. Most guests that are on vacation are wanting to sleep in and relax so this is another amenity that will help them do so!
11. Nightstands
Having a bedside nightstand or table that is clutter free is huge for guests to be able to put phones, books, water glasses, etc. while they sleep at night.
12. Bedside lamps
When it comes to lighting, you want to ensure you have good lighting for every phase of use. Bright overhead lights for getting ready, lamps for mood lighting at night and then reading lights at night. These bedside lamps are my favorite. They are so easy to install and provide an elevated look with being mounted on the wall.
13. Ceiling fans
Fans are huge! They will keep your electricity costs low in the summer. If ceiling fans are not an option, make sure you have a box fan in the closet for your guests to use.
14. Sheer curtains
I’m a huge fan of black out shades and then pairing it with sheer curtains to balance. Sometimes guests will want privacy but not total darkness so having a privacy option that allows for light to stream through is huge.
15. Room for a pac n’ play
I’m a mom of 3 so this became huge for me at all my family friendly listings. Room for a pac n’ play in the main bedroom is essentials especially if your guests are traveling with a baby.
16. Phone chargers
I like to provide phone chargers in the bedroom. Totally not necessary but I have gotten thank yous from my guests when they did forget theirs.
17. Smart TV
So I am like a hard no on this in my own home but so many guests ask if there’s a TV in the bedroom before booking some of my listings. I still don’t have Smart TVs in my listings but do think this puts me at a disadvantage over other listings that do provide this amenity, at least in the main bedroom.
18. Hooks for towels
Now this is something I do for my bedrooms that don’t have a bathroom attached. If guests don’t use it for their towel, they’ll probably use it for a bag or a purse so it will get used either way.
19. A safe for valuables
This is always provided in a hotel and should be in a higher end vacation rental.
20. Reading materials
I love putting out some books on the coffee table and do this in the bedrooms as well. A fun book or two is a great and cheap amenity for your guests and can provide entertainment for $20.
21. Locks on the door
For sure make this a priority. Your guests are going to want privacy, especially if they’re traveling with other people that aren’t family members.
