I’ve been Airbnb Superhost since 2019 and the kind of Airbnb towels you have in your listing makes a huge difference in guest experience.
Little things like not having enough towels, stains, or the wrong brand make or break a guests experience. In this article, I’ll cover what kinds of Airbnb towels should be in your listing, brands that are my favorite and why and how many towels you should have.
This post is all about Airbnb towels.
The Best Airbnb Towels
The Basics About Airbnb Towels
The thing I learned is that you need more towels than you think. Have you ever stayed at an Airbnb and only were provided two kitchen towels and they were used and wet after one meal? I have and it’s super annoying. So, as the host, you need to think through these scenarios so your guests are left with an adequate supplies of these basic amenities.
1. What kinds of towels do I need in my listing?
Now, this could very well vary from listing to listing and the kinds of amenities you have but I’ll do my best to summarize here. You will need the following:
- Bath towels
- Hand towels
- Washcloths
- Bath mats
- Makeup wash cloths
- Kitchen towels
- Cleaning rags
- Pool/Jacuzzi towels
- Beach towels
2. How many towels should I have per guest?
Every guest should have 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, 1 wash cloth, 1 pool/jacuzzi towel and 1 beach towel. I would recommend 2 makeup towels per bedroom in the listing. Do 1 bath mat per bathroom, even the bathrooms that don’t have a shower or tub. For the kitchen, have 2 hand towels and 2 extra under the sink, or in a visible spot to the guests. Provide 4 cleaning rags regardless of the size of the listing.
3. How many back up sets should I have per listing?
As a rule of thumb, you will want to provide two extra sets of towels over the maximum guest count. For example, if your maximum occupancy is 6 people, provide 8 sets of towels.
If you have a very large listing, like 10 or more occupants are allowed, I would recommend leaving 4 extra sets over the maximum occupancy.
Now for turnovers, I like to keep 3 sets of everything so one set is in the house for guests to use, one is out for washing and the last set is in the back up closet ready for the cleaners to place in the house.
I know that sounds like a lot of towels but it’s industry standard and honestly the bare minimum. You really need to have even more inventory so the cleaners can act fast if a guest ruins your towels.
4. When do I need to replace my Airbnb towels?
This is a bit of a personal decision. I have seen hosts replace every year and other hosts just replace as needed. I personally do a combo of both. Each year I do a reset on my property and will replace sets of items (Like a whole need set of dinner plates or silverware). During the year, I replace things as they get stained, break or are lost. Once I get to the listing anniversary of that property, I’ll do a whole house audit and replace major Airbnb essentials that are mismatched (such as the Airbnb towels).

Airbnb Towel Recommendations
Now for the fun part! This is a list of all the Airbnb towels I would recommend. Most of these items I personally carry in my listings.
1. Bath towels
These bath towels are the exact ones I use in all my properties. They hold up very well, are easy to wash and dry, have durability while still feeling like a plush hotel towel.
2. Hand towels
I love these hand towels because they match the bath towel set and are super durable. Your hand towels are your most “loved” out of all the towels in your listing so make sure they can last!
3. Washcloths
You need a lot of washcloths because these will get gross FAST. Guests will be washing all kinds of “things” with these and most of the time it’s not worth rehabbing in the washing machine. I buy this exact pack of 24 for every listing.
4. Makeup washcloths
Your washcloths will take a beating if that is all the guests have to remove their makeup. Foundation and mascara are HARD to get out of a light colored towel. Do yourself a favor and stock up on these makeup washcloths ASAP!
5. Bath mats
Bath mats are typically something I have always wanted to be a pretty feature in a bathroom but the longer I host the more I learned how impractical that is. These ones are from the same collection that my towels are from and honestly are just so great for a quick wash and turnover.
6. Kitchen towels
I love to have super absorbant and fast drying towels in my kitchen so I do the same thing for my guests! These towels are highly rated on Amazon a great neutral color for most of my listings.
7. Cleaning rags
There will be messes during a guests stay and you don’t want the guests using your nice towels for clean up because they will if they need to! These are some good basic cleaning rags I use in all my rentals.
8. Pool/Jacuzzi towels
You have to have cute pool or jacuzzi towels if you have these amenities. Not only will guests expect this but it’s a fun way to incorporate color. I love these classic striped pool towels!
9. Beach towels
For beach towels, I love using turkish towels because they repel the sand, are quick to dry, and look super cute! I have these exact ones in my coastal Airbnb.
BONUS
What do we all love about higher end hotels? They have oversized robes and even little slippers! Now, I would not recommend this for every Airbnb but if you have a Jacuzzi or a soaking tub amenity, this could be a really fun touch for guests.
10. Robes
Make sure you are size inclusive and order a larger size for all your guests! Smaller guests will love that they are completely enveloped by the robe. Larger guests will appreciate the size inclusiveness.
11. Slippers
These are so not necessary but they are a fun touch for a jacuzzi or soaking tub amenity! I recommend the ones below and like the robe, order on the larger side to be size inclusive for your guests.
