Are you starting up your Airbnb and wondering what should be on your Airbnb inventory checklist? I have you covered. Steal my list of back up inventory I have on hand at my #1 listing. Depending on your experience, it could be more than you thought and many new hosts don’t realize how expensive it is to start up a property.
Take my list below and then adapt it to your listing and your needs. If you have more amenities, then adjust accordingly! But this list of 23 items should really help you get a head start.
This post is all about Airbnb inventory checklist.
My Airbnb Inventory Checklist
1. Two sets of back up sheets
I always have two sets of back up sheets per bed. The idea here is that you have one set on the bed, one set in the locked linen closet and another set out being washed. Having multiple sets of sheets per bed allows for the cleaners to do the turnover quickly and your guests a back up if something happens during their stay. This is a lot more cost up front but your sheets will last longer in theory since they’re being used less and cleaned very well.
2. Two sets of back up comforter sets
The same idea here as for the sheets. You also want to do comforter sets and not duvets. Duvets are way more work and can slow down your turns. This also is super unsanitary if you have one comforter and multiple duvet covers because the comforter can never be cleaned.
3. Two sets of back up towels
The same idea here for towels too. You want two sets of back up at a minimum, I tend to have like 6 sets of back ups of towels since they get destroyed so much faster than anything else in the house. But at a minimum you will want two sets of back up towels. This is per towel set you provide. So if you provide 8 sets of towels, purchase 24 sets of towels.
4. Two sets of back up makeup towels
I have found that these makeup towels walk away. Definitely purchase a couple sets of these. I buy these exact ones on Amazon.
5. Individually wrapped sponges
I know this sounds weird but I learned this from my cleaners and it makes so much sense. Sponges hold so many germs and in a post COVID world you want to ensure your guests feel like every detail has been taken care of. I buy individually wrapped sponges from Costco, but you could also order them on Amazon. This gives guests the reassurance that the sponge they are using is in fact sanitary and new.
6. Refills of dish soap
Dish soap is so crucial. I know some hosts that provide small bottles of dish soap for each guest, which is a great approach but I do refillable bottles. The refillable bottle allows for ample supply and the cleaners can refill when they see the bottle getting low.
7. Refills of hand soap
I do refillable hand soap containers as well. Like with the dish soap, it’s something the cleaners can easily track and refill when bottles get low. These are the bottles I use for my hand soap.
8. Refills of Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash
Cannot recommend this enough. Most hotels have turned away from single use options of these and shifted to a refillable bottle option which allows guests that use it, ample usage without needing a refill.
9. Refills of Olive Oil, Salt and Pepper
Your guests are not going to go through these as much as you may think but definitely keep back ups on hand. I always have a refillable olive oil bottle the cleaners can refill and then a full back up of salt and pepper.
10. Lots of TP
Have so much toilet paper on hand it should be ridiculous. Toilet paper is something you never want to have to Instacart over to your guests. I have been there and had to tip and pay extra for TP to be expedited over to guests, it’s the literal worst thing to over pay for.
11. Plenty of Paper Towels
Provide your guests a full roll of paper towels and then a back up roll. But also have plenty in your cleaners closet and inventory. Paper towels will save your kitchen towels from being overly destroyed!

12. Two sets of back up dish towels
Like your bath towels, have two sets of back up dish towels at a minimum. Dish towels are going to get used and abused so make sure you have more than two sets of back up but at least two sets of back up. Dish towels aren’t towels I get super nervous about providing to my guests stained. There’s so much more understanding here when towels are stained versus bath towels.
13. Two sets of back up beach/pool towels
This listing I pulled this Airbnb inventory list from is a beach property and we have multiple sets of beach towels for our guests. These are only used seasonally but still necessary for our cleaning team to be able to properly turn over the house in a timely manner.
14. Batteries
You need batteries readily accessible for both your guests and your cleaners. No host wants to pay a handyman to come out to change the batteries on a TV remote. If you have batteries available and make it known, your guests are most likely not even going to ask you if something small needs a battery change.
15. Refills of laundry powder
We provide laundry detergent for guests and having powdered detergent is by far the easiest. The pods break easily and are expensive. The powder lasts a long time and gives guests a lot of loads in one little jar.
16. Refills of cotton balls, q-tips and razors
Always have back ups of the Airbnb toiletries you provide. This is what I provide in my beach property and keep on hand for my cleaning crew at all times.
17. Two extra propane tanks per grill and fire pit
So this may be excessive but I do not want to run out of propane as a guest is trying to enjoy their stay at my property. I always make sure to have multiple back ups of propane tanks on site so guests can easily swap them out and refill is easier with multiple back up options.
18. Back up bathroom rugs
I personally have 1 back up bathroom mat/rug per bathroom and the cleaners just swap these out between each turn. In my experience, guests don’t really miss these if they’re missing as they’ll just throw down an extra towel if needed.
19. Refills of coffee
I provide coffee (K-Cups) for this listing and always ensure I have plenty of back up for my guests.
20. Refills of sugar
Same with the sugar. I provide coffee and sugar at the coffee bar and want to make sure I always have sugar refills.
21. Back up water filters for Britas or refrigerator
I only keep one of these on hand at all times since they need to be replaced every 6 months. That allows plenty of time for reordering inventory when the back up is used.
22. Back up throw blankets
I have a handful of back up throw blankets for my cleaners to replace the ones that have been heavily used during a stay.
23. Refills of dishwasher pods
Give your guests a generous amount of dishwasher pods and always have plenty in your storage cabinet. Let the guests do their dishes and keep your listing clean!
