Are you wondering what Airbnb bathroom essentials you need to stock? There’s so many different things you can provide your guests but what do they actually want? It can be overwhelming to decide. I can definitely help with this tried and true list of essentials in this article.
I’ve been hosting since 2019 and have seen the Airbnb boom and “bust”. This list is comprehensive of what I include for guests, and trust me, it’s not as much as you think.
This post is all about Airbnb bathroom essentials.
17 Airbnb Bathroom Essentials
1. Towels
Towels are a no-brainer. To even host guests and be labeled as having the basic essentials on Airbnb’s website, you need to provide 1 towel per guest. These towels at Costco are what I currently stock in all my properties. The reason is they are reliable, cheaper, and durable. I have my cleaning team throw out any towel that has a stain right away.
2. Makeup Towels
These black makeup towels are everything! They will save your white towels from all the nasty stuff guests can get on your towels. A guest will see the dark color and use that to wipe makeup, dirt or whatever else on there versus your white bath towels.
3. Hand soap
You have to provide hand soap. It’s only sanitary and in a post Covid world, that is so necessary for guests to feel clean during their stay. I always use refillable bottles and have extra soap under the counter just in case. This is an easy one to miss when doing a turnover.
4. Odor eliminator spray
I always provide this because it’s going to help your guests feel comfortable doing their business and save your bathroom from horrible smells (yikes!).
5. Hair dryer
My rule of thumb for any Airbnb essential is that if a hotel stocks it standard for their guests, I should have it too. Guests coming to an Airbnb are going to automatically assume this is available for them because of that even though you have the option to mark it as something that isn’t available when setting up your listing. The link below is the one I buy for all my properties.
6. Light cleaning supplies
Having light cleaning supplies is something I always want as a guest. Even before I was in full mom mode, I’d want to wipe the counter down half way through a trip or clean the toilet. Having light cleaning supplies is going to be helpful for some guests during their stay.

7. Q-tips
I personally can never remember to pack Q-tips and I need these almost every single day. So because of my own forgetfulness, I now stock these and label them an Airbnb bathroom essential for every host I talk too.
8. Extra toilet paper
This is highly controversial because a lot of hosts only provide a starter kit (so like 2 back up rolls) per bathroom. I literally have my cleaners just fill the medicine cabinet with toilet paper. It’s just the last reason on earth why I would want to receive less than a 5 star review on a stay and most guests are not going to take it home with them. If you listing is catering to a lower end guest, then maybe? But I really doubt you’ll even notice.
9. Razors
I always provide a disposable razor. If a guest is flying, this could be something they can’t bring with them because of the way they traveled. It’s also an easy item to forget when packing or something that you may only need to use once on a weekend trip.
10. Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash
I always provide plenty of these items. The exact reusable bottles I use are linked below. It keeps plenty stocked for my guests, is reducing single-use plastics and looks really good!
11. Bath mats
Always provide a practical bath mat. You want to avoid excess water on your floors and encourage guests to use it so have it in an accessible spot. I have my cleaning team hang it directly over the shower/bath door so the guest has to take it down and put it somewhere before stepping into the shower. I also like to keep these super practical and use white or grey bath mats. It’s not an accessory, it’s like the towels, practical. This is because it will get so much use!
12. Towel racks
I always have ample space and hooks for guests to hang dry their towels. It will help them take better care of your towels and avoid smells or molding for dirty towels.
13. Good lighting
I always have overhead mirror lighting and can lights in my bathrooms. It’s not something that guests will write in your reviews but they may mention it if they can’t see themselves while getting ready. I always want good lighting for putting makeup on. If you can make it work, try to rework your lighting in your bathrooms to help with this!
14. Trash can
Have a bathroom trash can. Men, women need this for more than you think. It’s an Airbnb bathroom essential for sure. Make sure you have a liner in it as well.
15. Toilet bowl brush
Like the cleaning supplies, I really believe guests who are natural clean freaks will use this to clean up after themselves if it’s available. I always stock my bathrooms with toilet brushes and toilet bowl cleaners.
16. Plunger
Having a plunger is crucial. If you don’t, I know guests will call when the toilet is overflowing. Just make sure you have these available in every bathroom
17. Automatic ventilation
It’s actually crazy to me how my bathrooms where the ventilation is a separate switch from the light switch are moldy sometimes. I really think some people don’t take the extra step to turn the fan on or are just not used to it because it’s not in their bathroom at home. In all my new listings, we have the fan tied into the main bathroom light so it automatically turns on while guests are in there.
